These “student-friendly” rubrics were created by teachers through a series of professional development gatherings that focused on effective formative assessment practices for teaching writing. Teachers were tasked with converting Ministry created Performance Standards into language that students could comprehend and relate to. The resulting rubrics (posted below) are an extremely useful addition to any writing repertoire.  Use them as a self-assessment tool, or perhaps to set clear criteria; they are also a great vehicle for providing effective feedback. We encourage you to modify and/or alter the rubrics to fit your needs.  However you use them we hope that you find these rubrics a useful tool to help support writing growth in your classroom
