Youth Ambassadors for World Tsunami Awareness Day
Congratulations to our five School District 85 students who were chosen to represent our country at the World Tsunami Summit in Japan!
Around 260 high school students from more than 40 countries met at the Summit where they discussed the threat of natural hazards and how to respond to them. The Summit took place Tuesday, September 10, 2019 and Wednesday, September 11, 2019. The five students from North Island Secondary School and Port Hardy Secondary School were accompanied by Ms. Stacia Johnson, principal of NISS. They flew out of Port Hardy on September 5 and returned home September 12. The students will be sharing the knowledge they gained on what can be done to protect people’s lives during natural disasters.
