NATIONAL TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION DAY             SEPTEMBER 30, 2021

September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The BC government has announced this day as a new annual statutory holiday for all provincial public sector employees – this includes public school districts. Therefore, all School District 85 schools, maintenance, office, and the school board office will be closed on September 30, 2021. We would like to observe and recognize the colonial legacy of residential schools and honour the Spirit of Truth and Reconciliation.

Posted on Thursday April 8, 2021 at 3:55 PM  – NISS School Closure:

Due to Health and Safety precautions, North Island Secondary School will be closed to staff and students on Friday April 9, 2021.  The reason for this closure is a serious plumbing issue.

At the end of the school day on Thursday April 8, 2021 there was a blockage in the sewage pipes.  Although the maintenance teams and outside contractors are working hard to fix the issue there will still be the clean up job and airing out of the school to occur.

Have a safe weekend.  We expect school to resume as normal on Monday April 12.

Carol Robertson

Superintendent of Schools
