PHSS Canoe Trip

Port Hardy Secondary Ms. Kunstar's Science 10 and Mr. Dyck's Woodworking classes had the opportunity to take out the 52 foot School District canoe called Galtam (meaning ‘wide-face’). The classes were joined by Jim Jones and Mervyn Child.
With calm conditions, clear skies and smiling faces, the students were treated to exploring the beaches, poking around tide pools, drifting over bull kelp beds (trying to catch the kelp crabs), watching seals swim under the canoe investigating and learning the rich history of the region, including local/traditional stories and traditional knowledge.  This rich day of exploration and learning is one that they will not soon forget!
